I study how race, media, and identity shape political trust and behavior. That research informs the consulting work I do with organizations and with the entertainment and content creation industry.
First and foremost, I am a researcher. I am a political scientist whose work examines how Americans, particularly minority communities, build trust in institutions, media, and public figures. My research looks at parasocial relationships with culturally resonant members of the entertainment and content creation industry as an alternative trust heuristic for people with lower institutional trust, and more broadly at how race and identity shape political attitudes and behavior.
That research informs the consulting work I do. I partner with organizations and with members of the entertainment and content creation industry, helping them stay informed on what their audiences are asking for, engage thoughtfully on politics, and connect with organizations eager to collaborate with them. I currently serve as a contributing member of the Celebrity Engagement Committee.
Ph.D. in Political Science, Northwestern University.
My research agenda sits at the intersection of race, media, and political trust. It looks at the informal, non-institutional heuristics people use to navigate political life when trust in traditional institutions is low.
I have taught and assisted with courses in American politics, public opinion, and political psychology at Northwestern University.
